3 suspects on the run after carjacking, theft in Castle Rock

DENVER (KDVR) — Three suspects are on the loose after several alleged carjackings took place near the Castle Rock outlet mall.

The Castle Rock Police Department told FOX31 they were alerted to a stolen vehicle that entered town limits on Thursday at around 1:30 p.m. The department’s stationary license plate reader alerted officers to the car.

The three people inside the stolen car went to the Outlets at Castle Rock where police said they committed a theft at one of the stores.

Once officers and a security guard responded to the scene, two of the suspects fled on foot. The third suspect allegedly stole a car and escaped to a nearby apartment complex, Castle Rock police said.

Officers said the two suspects who fled on foot allegedly carjacked another victim. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The two suspects then fled northbound on Interstate 25. Officers who were driving east on E-470 were able to locate the duo and initiate a pursuit. However, the suspects exited at Smoky Hill Road and officers ended the pursuit because they said it felt unsafe to continue as the suspects were driving fast through heavy lanes of traffic.

Castle Rock police said all three suspects are still outstanding. Descriptions are not available at this time, but this story will be updated as more information becomes available.
