3 seriously injured, hospitalized after head-on crash in rural Centre County

Three people, including a child, were seriously injured Saturday after a head-on crash in rural Centre County.

A 43-year-old Delaware man slammed a 2023 Kia Sorento into a 2023 Jeep Wrangler driven by an Aaronsburg man about 1:30 p.m. Saturday on General Potter Highway in Potter Township, state police at Rockview wrote in a crash report released Wednesday.

The Delaware man was driving northbound in the southbound lane near Bloom Road, police wrote. He and his two passengers, a 40-year-old woman and 8-year-old girl, were flown by a medical helicopter to Hershey Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

The Aaronsburg man, 64, reported minor injuries. Each vehicle was towed.

The Boalsburg Fire Co, Penns Valley and Pleasant Gap EMS and Mount Nittany were among the agencies that assisted.

There were 23 crashes where someone was seriously injured over the previous decade in Potter Township, state Department of Transportation data showed. State College reported 39 such crashes during the time, the most of any municipality in Centre County.
