3 men facing charges for armed robbery spree across DC, Maryland

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Three men are facing charges for a string of armed robberies and carjackings across DC and Maryland that lasted over a month.

A 14-count indictment was filed Wednesday against Kanard Bishop, 26, Edward LeRoy “Shiesty” Brown, 24, and Khalil “Lil Bill” Boyd, 18, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

The men were charged with conspiracy to interfere with interstate commerce by robbery; carjacking; using, carrying, possessing, and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence; and aiding and abetting.

According to the indictment, the robberies lasted from about Feb. 14 until March 28 covering ground in District Heights and Capitol Heights in Prince George’s County in Maryland and around D.C.

They targeted fast-food restaurants, convenience stores and package delivery vehicles in their robberies and would arrange for a car to commit all the robberies, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A McDonald’s, a Denny’s Restaurant, a 7-Eleven, a FedEx, a GameStop and more were among their list of targets, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia news release.

Police say the men were arrested March 28 after they attempted to rob a District Heights GameStop in a stolen 2022 purple Dodge Challenger.

Detectives that had been surveilling the carjacked Challenger, tracked it to the GameStop and stumbled upon the robbery in progress, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Police say the men attempted to flee the GameStop, armed and waving their guns, and were caught after a brief chase.

The case was still being investigated. The FBI, the Metropolitan Police Department and the Prince George’s County Police Department were all investigating the case together.
