3 men convicted in 2019 murders will spend life in prison

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Three men convicted of murder, including two charged in the killing of a mother in the Town of Tonawanda, were sentenced Friday morning.

North Tonawanda residents Ernest Green and Daniel Rodriguez, both 41, and 27-year-old Tonawanda resident Wayne Robbins, were found guilty last month.

Early in the morning of August 27, 2019, authorities said Green and Rodriguez unlawfully entered 31-year-old Danielle Cretacci’s home on Ebling Avenue through a rear door.

According to former Erie County District Attorney John Flynn, Rodriguez and Green then removed Cretacci and her daughters, aged 11 and 8, from their bedrooms.

Flynn says Cretacci was subsequently shot “execution style” in the back of her head. Her children were also shot, but they survived.

Prosecutors said the older child pretended to be dead until the men left the home. Once they were gone, officials said the child went door-to-door in search of help.

Authorities said the men sought to rob Cretacci following a recent insurance settlement of $30,000 that she had been talking about online.

Robbins, Green and another person, 31-year-old Buffalo resident Sharee Bailey were also charged in a separate incident that took place one month after Cretacci was killed.

While inside a home on Merrimac Street in Buffalo, authorities said Green and Robbins fatally shot both Shaquiel St. John, 26, and Bethany Malloy, 21. This also took place during a robbery.

The following convictions stemmed from these incidents:

Ernest Green

  • first-degree murder (two counts)

  • second-degree murder (five counts)

  • second-degree attempted murder (two counts)

Daniel Rodriguez

  • second-degree murder

  • second-degree attempted murder (two counts)

Wayne Robbins

  • first-degree murder (two counts)

  • second-degree murder (four counts)

Additionally, Bailey pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery.

Green and Robbins both received sentences of life with parole for the killings on Merrimac.

Green also received an additional sentence of 75 years to life for the shootings in the Town of Tonawanda. Rodriguez was sentenced to 75 years to life in prison.

Bailey faces up to 25 years in prison when she’s sentenced.
