3 Livingston Parish high schools among top 25 in Louisiana, report says

LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Three Livingston Parish Schools are in the Top 25 ranking among public high schools in Louisiana, according to the U.S. News & World Report.

The 2023-2024 Best High Schools report ranked Holden High School at No. 13, Live Oak High School at No. 15 and Springfield High School at No. 25.

Livingston Parish Public Schools said schools were ranked based on graduation rates, state test scores and how well they prepare students for college.

“The Best High Schools rankings are available exclusively on USNews.com and include data on a variety of factors, such as enrollment, student diversity, participation in free and reduced-price lunch programs, in addition to graduation rates and the results of state assessments. U.S. News evaluated nearly 18,000 public high schools at the national, state, and local level,” LPPS said.

College readiness measures participation and performance on Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate exams and underserved student performance focuses on Black, Hispanic or low-income students, the report said.

North Baton Rouge residents, students learn more about housing, real estate

LPPS said the report showed that Holden High School scored 91.99. It had an AP rate of 58% and a 78% graduation rate.

Live Oak High School scored 90.18. The AP participation rate was 59% and had a 95% graduation rate, according to LPPS.

Springfield High School scored 84.71 and had an AP participation rate of 44%. The graduation rate was 90%.

Six other Livingston Parish high schools were in the top 60. They include Walker High at 32, Albany High at 35, Doyle High at 47, Muaurepas High at 54, French Settlement High at 55, and Denham Springs High at 59.
