3 forums slated for Scottsdale candidates

May 23—As the July 30 Primary Election nears, a series of three candidate forums will be held next month to help Scottsdale voters make their decisions on who to vote for mayor and three City Council seats.

And readers can help frame the discussions.

The three 90-minute forums are sponsored by the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, Scottsdale United Methodist Church, DC Ranch and the Scottsdale Progress.

Two forums will be held for the three mayoral candidates in a traditional question-and-answer format conducted by a three panelists while the session with the council candidates will enable the nine hopefuls to meet and mingle with voters in an informal manner.

The first of two forums held at Scottsdale United Methodist Church meeting hall, 4140 N. Miller Road in downtown Scottsdale, will run 6-7:30 p.m. June 11. Council candidates will be introduced to the audience and then meet informally with attendees. Readers who have issues they'd like the candidates to tell them about are encouraged to send their requests to info@scottdalechamber.com. The deadline to send questions is June 2.

Readers also can send specific questions they'd like the panel to ask the three mayoral Candidates — Mayor David Ortega, Lisa Borowski and Linda Milhaven — during the second forum at Scottsdale United Methodist Church the next day, 6-7:30 p.m. June 12.

The second mayoral forum, 6-7:30 p.m. June 19, will be held at The Homestead Community Center at DC Ranch, 18600 N. 98th St., Scottsdale.

All three forums are free and open to the public. Readers are encouraged to email their questions for the candidates because no questions will be taken from the floor for the two mayoral sessions. Attendees can feel free to raise their own questions and issues during their informal meetings with the council candidates on June 11.
