3 bodies recovered at Missouri's Stockton Lake after kayak apparently capsized

Three bodies have been recovered in Stockton Lake, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol, after appearing to have capsized their kayak on Tuesday due to rough waters.

The first victim of the reported drowning, 18-year-old Melodie Roberts, was found in Crabtree Grove on Wednesday. Two men MSHP said she was kayaking with at the lake were recovered Friday following an extensive search.

The three victims, who reportedly moved recently to southwest Missouri from Michigan, did not appear to be wearing lifejackets.

MSHP did not name the two young men on Friday, but friends and family social media identified the two as brothers Sonny and Iziah Lewis of Milo, Missouri.

This marked the second fatal drowning incident at Stockton Lake this year. Miller resident Travis McCann died in February over falling overboard from a boat during a bowfishing trip.
