3 arrested in Hoffman probe face drug charges

NEW YORK (AP) — Three of the four people arrested in New York City in the investigation of Philip Seymour Hoffman's death have been arraigned on drug charges.

Lawyers for the three say they had nothing to do with Hoffman's death.

One of the four was charged with heroin possession with the intent to sell. Two were charged with misdemeanor cocaine possession. The fourth wasn't charged.

Two law enforcement officials say at least one had the actor's cellphone number. The officials spoke Wednesday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to talk about evidence in an open investigation.

The Oscar-winning actor was found dead Sunday in his Manhattan apartment. The medical examiner's office says more tests are needed to determine how Hoffman died but police believe he may have overdosed
