3 arrested, accused of firing shots at Lafayette County deputy

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three men are in jail after being accused of firing shots at a deputy during a pursuit in Mississippi, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspects have been identified as Shoundarius Bogard, Mykial Penilton, and Montrell Ramsey.

On Friday morning, deputies say they responded to Highway 7 North regarding an alarm at TGC Outdoors.

Reports state that a deputy who was already in the area saw a vehicle leaving the business and attempted a traffic stop.

That is when the suspects in the vehicle opened fire on the deputy while driving northbound on Highway 7. The suspects escaped into Marshall County.

The deputy was not injured during the shooting.

In collaboration with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Holly Springs Police Department, and Oxford Police Department, the three suspects were found and taken into custody.

Deputies also say multiple firearms were recovered, which they believe were used during the shooting incident.
