2nd suspect arrested in San Jose homicide last month

(KRON) — The San Jose Police Department announced on Tuesday that a second arrest had been made in a homicide that took place near San Jose’s Strawberry Park neighborhood last month. Police responded to a parking lot on the 5100 block of Moorpark Avenue on Feb. 29 at around 1:18 a.m. on a report of a shooting.

Arriving at the scene, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim died from his injuries at the scene.

The SJPD Homicide Unit began an investigation into the shooting. Detectives determined that the victim may have known the suspects. The primary suspect was identified as Dynzel Brown.

Brown was arrested the same day, shortly before midnight in Sunnyvale by members of the SJPD Special Operations M.E.R.G.E. Unit. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for homicide.

Further investigation led to police identifying Jerald Williams as a secondary suspect. Williams was located at his San Jose residence by the SJPD Operations M.E.R.G.E. Unit and arrested on March 8. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on homicide related charges.

The incident was San Jose’s 9th homicide of 2024. The motives and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. Police say they will release the victim of the identity pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
