2nd student in 10 days caught with gun at Mint Hill high school: CMS

MINT HILL, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Another firearm was found at Rocky River High School in Mint Hill this month, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools confirmed.

A student brought the firearm to school on Monday, March 11, and it was immediately confiscated, school officials said. No threats were made to students or staff.

This marks the second time within 10 days that a student has brought a gun to the Mint Hill high school. On Friday, March 1, a student was found with a firearm in their position on campus.

That weapon was also confiscated, school officials said.

In a statement, CMS said on Monday, “Possession of a weapon of any kind in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is a violation of the Code of Student Conduct and has serious consequences. As always, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority, therefore we encourage all students to report weapons or threats to a trusted adult. Reports can also be made anonymously through the Say Something App.”
