233 Kern Veterans celebrated at Honor Flight breakfast Thursday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — It was a packed room for the monthly Honor Flight breakfast in Bakersfield as 233 veterans were celebrated and served by volunteers.

May’s meeting was the biggest group they’ve hosted to date. Many of the veterans recently returned home from the 49th Honor Flight Kern County where they saw first-hand the memorials built in their honor in the nation’s capitol.

Honor Flight #49 takes Kern County veterans on a ‘trip of a lifetime’

Highland Elementary School presented a check for $4,500. The money collected through various school-organized fundraisers.

Rodney Torres and Ray Connor, with the A-to-Z Foundation’s Kern River Chapter, also presented Honor Flight Kern County with a check for $20,000.
