22 people displaced after fire at Baton Rouge apartment complex

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Twenty-two people were displaced after an apartment fire in Baton Rouge.

The St. George Fire Department responded to a two-story apartment complex with heavy smoke in the 8300 block of Ned Avenue around 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 14.

Firefighters learned that all the occupants were out of the building and were able to put out the fire in 15 minutes by using multiple handlines. The fire department said no one was injured. The Red Cross was called to help the residents.

An investigation determined that the fire was intentionally set. Anyone with information about this incident should contact the fire department at 225-279-1064.
