22-year-old killed, 17-year-old injured after being shot in vehicle in Little Village neighborhood, police say

CHICAGO — Chicago police say a 22-year-old man was shot in the head and killed and a teenage male was also wounded when someone opened fire on their car late Saturday night in the Little Village neighborhood on the city’s Southwest Side.

According to police, the two victims were in a vehicle at a stop sign in the 2500 block of South Trumbull Avenue just before midnight when occupants of a two-door white sedan opened fire.

Police say a 22-year-old man was taken by the Chicago Fire Department to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities later identified the 22-year-old man as Brandon Alcaraz.

A 17-year-old male was also taken to an area hospital by CFD in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg, police say.

There is nobody in custody, according to police, and Area Four detectives are investigating the incident.
