2024 Lobo football schedule revealed
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Mountain West revealed the schedule for all of its teams for the 2024 season on Thursday. The Lobos schedule looks very different than years past, as UNM will have three bye weeks and play an uneven number of home and road games.
Multiple factors played into the Lobo’s odd format for this season. Traditionally there are 13 weeks between Labor Day and Thanksgiving, however, the 14 weeks this year allows every team to take two bye weeks. Since the Lobos have a road game scheduled at Hawai’i, they will start the season in week zero and gain an additional bye.
Additionally, 2024 is the first season that Washington State and Oregon State, the last remaining members of the PAC-12, begin a scheduling agreement with the Mountain West. This impacts UNM’s schedule as the Lobos will only play seven games against traditional MW opponents plus one game vs Washington State. The Lobos game against the Cougars will not count towards UNM’s conference record.
