2018 Land Rover Discovery adds diesel option to all trims, price hikes across the board

Though the Land Rover Discovery was completely redesigned for the 2017 model year, the automaker already is rolling out a few updates for the 2018 model year. Among the major changes is the availability of the diesel engine on base SE models. Previously the diesel was only available on higher HSE and HSE Luxury trim levels. So those looking to save a bit on a diesel Land Rover have a slightly more affordable offering.

Unfortunately, the cheaper diesel option comes with higher prices for all Discovery SUVs. The base SE trim sees the biggest increase of $2,100 from $50,985 to $53,085. The HSE and HSE Luxury trim levels, with either the gasoline or diesel engine, all rise $1,540. Choosing the diesel adds an extra $2,000 to the base price of any trim level Discovery.

Land Rover includes some updated standard equipment with the price increase, though. All Discoveries now come standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a feature that used to be a standalone option. All Discovery trim levels get larger touchscreen infotainment, too. The Discovery SE gets a 10-inch screen, and the HSE trim levels get a 12.3-inch screen. HSE Discovery models gain a new, larger full-color heads-up display option that displays driver assist functions, road signs, and adaptive cruise control in addition to speed. These 2018 Discovery SUVs will go on sale in early 2018.
