2017 Venice Film Festival celebrity couples: Jennifer Lawrence, Amal Clooney and more

The 2017 Venice Film Festival is underway, and Hollywood's hottest couples are showing up in style!

Amal Clooney was a total showstopper in lavender Versace -- so much so that we almost forgot her husband George is the actual movie star. The unexpected appearance from Amal, who gave birth just three months ago, made the Clooneys the most talked-about couple of the night.

Meanwhile, Matt Damon and his wife Luciana also made for a picture-perfect couple. Damon, Clooney and "Suburbicon" co-star Julianne Moore stepped away from their partners for a group photo, but they all quickly reunited with their plus ones. Moore couldn't stop smiling as she held hands with her husband, Bart Freundlich.

Jennifer Lawrence and boyfriend Darren Aronofsky didn't pose for any "couples photos," but they did snap a few pics together with the rest of the "mother!" cast. Lawrence and Aronofsky started officially dating in September 2016, just after the film wrapped.

Perhaps our favorite red-carpet "couple"? Jane Fonda and Robert Redford, who have never actually dated but have periodically played on-screen lovers for the past 50+ years.

Fonda donned two equally gorgeous looks alongside Redford: At the premiere of "Our Souls at Night," she wore a glamorous decal-decorated number, looking every bit the Hollywood icon she is. Earlier in the week, she opted for a crisp white pantsuit. Can you believe she's 79?!

Other major celebrity spottings during the first few days of the Venice Film Festival came in the form of Jim Carrey, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ethan Hawke and Amanda Seyfried. The festival continues through September 9.
