Continuing our new daily series, we continue to take a look at players the Buffalo Bills may consider selecting at some point during the 2017 NFL Draft. While these players may not all be first round quality, this series will look at players across all the rounds that the Buffalo Bills could select during the draft process.

Moving on from the potential day two selection of safety Desmond King, today, we take a look at a player that could also be selected by Buffalo on day two of the draft. Looking for a new starting cornerback to replace the departed Stephon Gilmore, the Bills could pull the trigger on a cornerback/return man in Adoree’ Jackson.

Background

A top overall athlete that played all over the field at USC, Adoree’ Jackson played on offense, defense and special teams for the Trojans. Despite playing wide receiver and cornerback for most of his college career, Jackson should be a one-position player at the NFL level. With that position being cornerback, the other area Jackson could help out is in the return game.

An All-American in both football and track during his time at USC, Jackson is a pure athlete. The biggest question really is if his ability all over the field and experience playing multiple positions outweighs his below average size. With his draft stock fluctuating due to this, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Jackson be selected in the second round of this year’s draft.

Strengths

Has gained a tremendous amount of feel when he is in coverage, something that has increased exponentially since his freshman campaign. Pattern recognition is a plus and allows him to maintain coverage no matter where he lines up on defense. Plays in a variety of coverages and is able to mirror and match when he is in press coverage.

Closing burst to get back to the wide receiver. Also takes the angle that will allow him to make a play on the ball, leading to an uptick in interceptions. Aggressive in the air and also possesses the ball hawk trait that many coaches and executives love. Usually finishes his tackles and also has a great feel for when to play the ball and when to play the receiver.

Weakness

Undersized for the cornerback position and will likely struggle to make plays against bigger wide receivers at this level. Could be limited to a role as a slot cornerback due to his size. Can be over-aggressive when he fears speed from the wide receiver. Slight hitch when he begins to make a play towards the receiver from his back pedal.

Can be leveraged towards the middle of the field even when he has no help over the top. Will be posted up by bigger players and tight ends. Will not be a run stopping cornerback at this level, something that will create issues against run first teams in this league. Overall, he will be talent vs. size when weighing his potential.
