The 2017 BMW i3 model will feature a bigger 33-kWh battery as a replacement for the 22-kWh battery which powers the current one. The current BMW i3 covers a distance of 130kms, while the upcoming model boasts of covering a distance of 183kms, which is about 53kms more.

The 50 per cent more capacity new battery in the BMW i3 does not take up additional space and is similar to the current one. To continue thrilling the electric car lovers, the range extender version of the i3 will also be powered by this new battery. To spice things up further, the German automaker has introduced the Protonic Blue metallic colour which has been popular with the i8 electric. The 2017 BMW i3 is capable of fully charging up in about 4.5 hours.

BMW has been working on an all-wheel-drive system for future M cars. As of now, these cars come with a rear-wheel drive mechanism. Owing to improved performance numbers, the M cars have not been evoking satisfactory customer response from Switzerland and Canada markets. To tackle this, the company will be introducing an all-wheel-drive system which might be branded as xDrive, 2+2WD or something similar. The BMW M5 might be the first one to get the all-wheel-drive system.
