Your 2013 New Year's Day Hangover, According to Netflix Instant

Get those resolutions out of your head. New Year's Day is meant for sitting on your couch, doing nothing, and getting over your hangover. If you don't feel like watching football, have already done The Honeymooners marathon, or, well, don't  have a TV, pray that Netflix is still working and tune in to these classic shows we've suggested to help you get through the day.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. You wake up, even though you don't want to, and everything still hurts. You want something that is mindless, but also comforting and perhaps a little nostalgic. Good thing Netflix has Nickelodeon classic Hey Arnold! on demand:

1 p.m. to 3 p.m. You're over the kid stuff, but still in kind of an absurdist mood. You click over to Blackadder, Rowan Atkinson's cunning, clever, immensely British and totally serious series:

3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Humor is good, but you're getting tired of all of the British witticisms. You watch a couple episodes of Cheers:

5 p.m. to 7 p.m. You've been up for a while, you're head's starting to hurt again, and you're starting to feel angsty. Why did you drink so much, you wonder. You turn on My So-Called Life, the episode "Other People's Mothers" — that's the one where Rayanne throws a wild party and overdoses — to complement your mood and remind yourself never to drink again. You want to get out of your funk, so you turn on the episode "Betrayal" just so you can dance with Angela to "Blister in the Sun":

7 p.m. to 9 p.m. You're still feeling a little moody, but over that teenage phase. This year will be better than your high school years, no doubt, but this whole 2013-is-actually-here thing is still putting you in a foul mood. Days like these were made for marathons of Law and Order: SVU....

9 p.m. to 11 p.m. The hangover is almost gone and you're getting a little tired of tales of murder and sexual assault, but you still want some drama. Now's a perfect time to dip into The West Wing, which has just been added to Netflix Instant. Hey, it's better than thinking about the fiscal cliff.

11 p.m. to 12 p.m. After all that you're looking for something classic and lighthearted to put you to bed. You stumble upon Life with Elizabeth, a very early Betty White show. Knowing you have to go to work in the morning you fall asleep to the sounds of the 1950s and wake up to the future.
