2012 MTV Europe Music Awards heads to Frankfurt

US pop singer Lady Gaga (L) arrives at Narita International Airport

The 19th MTV Europe Music Awards are set to take place in Frankfurt, Germany, on Sunday, November 11 at the Festhalle, following 2011's show in Belfast.

Viacom International Media Networks president Bob Bakish said in an announcement on Monday that the ceremony will be "one of the biggest nights in music on the planet" and "showcase talent from the US to Europe to Asia to everywhere in between."

Shock-pop icon Lady Gaga was the 2011's biggest winner, showing up in person at the Northern Irish capital's Odyssey Arena to claim the Best Female, Best Song, Best Video, and Biggest Fan awards.

The event will be broadcast live by MTV in more than 40 countries in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East and has the potential to draw a global television audience of more than 600 million people.
