This 200W Laser Bazooka Is a Work of Mad Genius

From Popular Mechanics

Mad scientist and laser junkie StyroPyro knows a thing or two about building weapons made out of light beams. Last year, he introduced the world to his ridiculous 40W laser shotgun, an impressive and overkill rig that set pingpong balls ablaze and will blind you if you look at it wrong. This time around, he's gone even crazier: Meet the 200W Laser Bazooka.

While it operates on a whole other order of magnitude, the bazooka is a somewhat similar design to the shotgun. It's a bundle of lasers that look like one beam from a distance, all routed through a single focusing lens.

And speaking of looking, you should be glad you're doing it from the other side of a computer screen. According to its maker, having this beam in your unprotected eyes is 33 million times worse than staring at the sun. After all, a mere .5W laser can cause eye damage if you do so much as look at the point where its shining.

That said, it is ridiculously awesome looking:

StryoPyro estimates that this is probably the most powerful portable laser ever built by a hobbyist, but that doesn't mean he's about to rest on his laurels. Upcoming plans include powerful pulse lasers and explosively-primed ones.

Just be careful man and don't go blind. I want to see what other crazy stuff you have up your sleeve.
