20 injured outside Linkin Park concert in SAfrica after scaffolding collapses, concert goes on

JOHANNESBURG - The city of Cape Town, South Africa, says that 20 people have been injured after scaffolding collapsed because of high winds outside a concert for Linkin Park.

Cape Town spokeswoman Kylie Hatton says the temporary advertising structure set up outside the Green Point Stadium had been certified as safe by structural engineers before Wednesday's event. She said all branding has been taken down and the commanding officer at the operation centre declared the event site safe shortly afterward.

Anton Groenewald with the city says that 12 of the 20 injured were being treated at a hospital.

The concert for the U.S. band is continuing.
