“The incident has been turned over to Dominion Energy. SLCFD units no longer on scene,” SLCFD said.

ORIGINAL STORY: SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Two seemingly unrelated gas leaks have shut down some major roads in Salt Lake City.

The first gas leak has closed State Street in both directions from 600 South to 800 South, according to the Salt Lake City Fire Department. In addition, 700 South will be closed in both directions from West Temple to 200 East.

Details on what caused the gas leak weren’t made immediately available.

In an unrelated incident, construction crews struck a gas line near Highland High School and Sugar House Park. The Salt Lake City Public Utilities Department said the high school was not impacted and crews are on scene working to resolve the leak as quickly as possible.

Out of caution, the Salt Lake City Fire Department shut down 2100 South from 1300 East to 1800 East and is asking the public to avoid the area. Fire officials have evacuated residents near the park and expect the evacuation to last about one hour. Those in the park can safely stay in the park but are advised to use the 1400 South entrance to leave.

ABC4 has crews en route to both locations to learn more.
