2 sought for stealing belongings from Nashville hotel rooms

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is searching for two men allegedly posing as hotel guests while breaking into rooms and stealing people’s belongings.

The MNPD said on Sunday, May 5, the victims reported several thousand dollars worth of their belongings had been stolen from their room at the Westin Hotel, located in the 800 block of Clark Place.

One of the suspects has been identified as 53-year-old Ronald Fillinger Jr., while the identity of his accomplice was not released. Fillinger’s accomplice was seen with him on surveillance video during the burglary at the Westin Hotel, and police said they have issued warrants against Fillinger charging him with aggravated burglary and theft of property.

According to investigators, two additional warrants charging Fillinger with aggravated burglary have been issued against him in two separate cases.

Police said on March 26, Fillinger is believed to have used an employee’s key card to get into a hotel room at the Courtyard by Marriot, located in the 1900 block of West End Avenue. Once inside, he allegedly took nearly $1,000 worth of items.

Fillinger was in possession luggage and left the luggage behind at the Marriot. Police recovered the luggage and found Fillinger’s Davidson County Sheriff’s Office issued prisoner ID card inside, according to authorities.

On March 20, Fillinger allegedly stole multiple items from a room at the Wyndham Hotel, located in the 2400 block of McGavock Pike. Police said several of the belongings taken from the Wyndham Hotel were found in the luggage he left behind at the Courtyard by Marriot.

Records show Fillinger was last arrested on Jan. 31 after staff at Lea Avenue’s SoBro Apartments & Homesharing found him sleeping in an unoccupied room. Staff members had reportedly left the door to the room open for the room to be dehumidified.
