2 severely injured in semi vs. vehicle crash on Interstate 90

Apr. 3—PLEASANT HILL TOWNSHIP, Minn. — Two people were severely injured in a semi vs. vehicle crash on Interstate 90 near Ridgeway on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

A 2019 Honda CR-V was traveling west on Interstate 90 and a 2011 Peterbilt Tractor Truck semi was traveling east when they collided head-on around 1:15 p.m., according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report. The road conditions were snowy and icy.

The driver of the Honda, Ryan Joseph Canton, 20, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and his passenger, Grace Elizabeth Carney, 21, of Englewood, Colorado, sustained life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.

The driver of the Peterbilt, Sean S Aqel, 47, of Eagan, Minnesota, was not injured in the crash, according to the report.

The eastbound lanes were re-routed on a detour for several hours on Tuesday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The Winona County Sheriff's Office, Wilson Fire Department and Tri-State Ambulance also responded to the crash.
