1 dead, 1 seriously injured after Franklin crash

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – One woman died and another was critically injured following a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday evening in Franklin.

The Franklin Police Department said the crash happened around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, in the 3700 block of New Highway 96 West.

Three vehicles were involved and two drivers were initially taken to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, according to investigators.

Authorities said 58-year-old Kimberly Wallace of Dickson, sideswiped a dump truck before colliding head-on with a Honda Accord. Wallace reportedly died at Williamson Medical Center.

Meanwhile, the female driver of the Honda remains in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, law enforcement said. However, the driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Police said New Highway 96 was completely closed while authorities investigated, but the road reopened around 10 p.m.

As of Wednesday, March 13, the crash is still under investigation, according to officials.
