2-year-old hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself with gun: PCSO

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A 2-year-old who got ahold of a gun accidentally shot himself on Tuesday, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 4:45 p.m., deputies responded to the Strengal Loop area in Zephyrhills to discover a toddler shot himself after getting ahold of a gun.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His current condition was not disclosed.

“The baby was shot,” a woman said recalling what she had heard. “Her pants were covered in blood.”

The witness said she grabbed a towel and put pressure on the baby to stop the bleeding.

Deputies said no one else was injured and it appears to be an isolated incident.

No further details were released.
