2 men indicted on murder charges after west Las Vegas shooting in 2023

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Two men have been indicted on murder charges related to a deadly west Las Vegas valley shooting that took place last April.

David Lynn Coulson, Sr., 57, and Jimmy Johnson, 45, were indicted on open murder following a shooting on April 30, 2023, near Evergreen Avenue and Upland Boulevard.

At the time of the shooting in April, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers responded at about 12:30 a.m. to reports of a shooting at Evergreen Avenue and Upland Boulevard, east of South Jones and north of West Charleston boulevards, and found the man in the roadway with an “apparent gunshot wound.” The man was later pronounced dead.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, Coulson, Sr., and Johnson were previously taken into custody in California and are pending extradition to Las Vegas for an additional murder that happened on Jan. 17 in the 1400 block of Helen Belle Drive in east Las Vegas.

In that case, Coulson Sr., and Johnson both face open murder charges for their involvement in the deadly beating of a man, according to police documents.
