2 men arrested Thursday in Carolina Forest were wanted in February shooting at Marathon gas station, police report says

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — The arrest of two men that led to a brief lockdown at Carolina Forest Elementary School on Thursday stemmed from a shooting in late February at a gas station on Belle Terre Boulevard.

Antonio Ingram, 19, and Jaylen Ingram, 18, were arrested and charged with four counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The two men had been wanted by Horry County police, the U.S. Marshals Service told News13.

According to warrants, one person was wounded when the two men allegedly shot into a vehicle with four people inside it on Feb. 26. An infant was among those in the vehicle.

Officers responded to a hold-up alarm at the Marathon gas station in the 3400 block of Belle Terre Boulevard at about 11:50 p.m. on Feb. 26, a police report said. An employee told officers she set off the alarm after shots were fired in the parking lot of the gas station, where investigators later found several empty shell casings. The employee’s vehicle was also hit by bullets.

The employee told officers that the two men had been in the store before the shooting, the report said. As a result, store officials were able to provide officers with surveillance video that was used to help identify the two men.

According to the report, a witness told officers that they were pumping gas when the two men pulled up to the pumps and appeared to argue with people in another vehicle parked in front of the store.

The two men then went into the store, according to the witness, and after they came out, they had “words” with the people before gunfire broke out.
