2 Maseratis reported stolen Downtown, hours apart

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men reported that their Maseratis were stolen in Downtown Memphis over the weekend.

On Saturday, a man told officers he was attending the crawfish festival between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. When he went to where he parked his car on Vance Avenue and Front Street, he could not find it.

He reported his 2017 Maserati SUV stolen. A little later, Memphis Police stated they found his vehicle on the interstate.

The wrecked and damaged vehicle was found in the area of South Parkway and I-55, abandoned in the grass.

On Sunday, at around 3 a.m., another victim was at the Rumba Room on South Main Street.

While inside for about 30 minutes, the club manager told him, “Sir, you need to come outside now. Someone is trying to steal your car,” according to police.

When the victim went outside, he saw his 2014 Maserati Ghibli speeding away, with Chevy Camaros following his car in front and behind.

The next day, the car was found in the Graceland Flats Apartments in Whitehaven with its windows busted out.

Stolen Maserati, dog found, 3 teens charged

Memphis Police reported 12,555 motor vehicle thefts last year, about 35 to 45 a day. A study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau ranked the city No. 4 for auto theft.

Last October, another Maserati theft made news when the car was taken, with a dog inside, from Front Street. One of the teens accused of that crime was wearing an ankle monitor from Juvenile Court.
