2 New Lenox Target Cards Used For Fraud: Police Blotter

Identity thieves are keeping the New Lenox Police Department busy of late.

NEW LENOX, IL -Here's a look at recent criminal activity in the village of New Lenox from the past week.

November 21

An officer was dispatched to Valvoline Express Care on Alana Drive in reference to a battery complaint. The 34-year-old male victim, reported being battered by a co-worker, Danny Master, 51, of Elwood. After investigating the incident, Master was arrested for Battery and transported to the NLPD. The 34-year-old victim had minor injuries and refused medical treatment. Master posted bond and was released.


November 21

The complainant advised that their eyeglasses, valued at $400, were stolen from Anytime Fitness in the 800 block of West Laraway Road while they worked out at the facility.

November 23

The officer was dispatched to Jewel Osco on Nelson Road in reference to a retail theft. The complainant advised that someone stole approximately $300 worth of alcohol from the store.

The officer was dispatched to the NLPD to meet with the complainant in reference to a Theft. The complainant advised that their wallet containing several credit cards was missing. The complainant indicated that they were unaware their wallet was missing until credit card companies began calling to verify several purchases, which were unauthorized by the victim.


November 24

The officer was dispatched to the NLPD to meet with the complainant in reference to an Identity Theft. The complainant advised that someone gained access to their personal information, opened several lines of fraudulent credit, and made numerous fraudulent purchases.

November 25

The officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle speeding at Lincoln Highway and William Street around 1:50 a.m. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Shayne Turner, 22, of Dallas, Texas. The officer learned that Turner was driving under the influence of alcohol. Turner was transported to the NLPD. Turner was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

November 25

The officer was dispatched to the 600 block of Tanager Lane in reference to a Deceptive Practice. The complainant advised that someone obtained their checking account information. They then wrote and cashed a fraudulent check on their personal checking account.

November 26

The complainant advised that they made a purchase at Target using their Target Card. They reported that later that day they noticed a fraudulent purchase on their Target account in the amount of over $2,800.

Incidentally, the very same day, New Lenox Police fielded the following report, also from a Target shopper: The complainant advised that they noticed a fraudulent purchase was made on their Target Credit Card in the amount of over $1,800.
