2 killed in fiery crash in east Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Two people were killed in a fiery crash early Saturday morning in the east Las Vegas valley, according to Metro police.

Around 12:10 a.m., police responded to a crash in the area of East Sahara Avenue and Voyage Cove Drive near Hollywood Boulevard.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements showed that a Toyota Camry was driving eastbound on Sahara at a high rate of speed approaching a dead end. Police said the Toyota failed to stop for the red and white warning sides and crashed through a section of signs before crashing into a large concrete Jersey Barrier.

The Toyota caught fire and both the driver and the passenger were pronounced dead. according to police.

These deaths mark the 55th and 56th traffic-related fatalities in the Las Vegas Metropolitan
Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2024.
