2 killed, 3 injured in shooting in Pembroke Township

PEMBROKE TOWNSHIP, Ill. — Two men are dead and three others are injured after a shooting in Pembroke Township on Friday night.

Kankakee County deputies say they were called to the area of 13100 East Central Street, just before midnight on Friday, following reports of gunfire in the area.

Authorities arrived on the scene and found two large groups of people who were at two separate parties at a nearby banquet hall. Deputies many of them were actively fleeing the scene when they arrived.

Authorities eventually located five victims who had all sustained gunshot wounds. Two of the victims later succumbed to their injuries.

Authorities have since identified the victims as 44-year-old Milton Sykes, a Kankakee resident who died after he was transported to the hospital and 32-year-old Edward Colon, a Chicago resident who was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities have not provided details on the conditions of the other three victims.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the gunfire and an investigation is underway.
