2 killed, 4 injured after crash at east Las Vegas valley bus stop
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – An adult and child are dead, and four others were injured after a bus stop crash involving a wrong-way driver in the east Las Vegas valley, according to police.
It happened Wednesday after 7:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Boulder Highway near Sahara Avenue.
Police told 8 News Now the driver of a white four-door sedan was seen traveling in the southbound lane going north in the wrong direction on Boulder Highway from Karen Avenue when it hit five people at the bus stop.
The victims had yet to be identified Monday morning, but more information was released on them and their injuries.
42-year-old man, fatal injuries
14-year-old boy, fatal injuries
41-year-old woman, critical injuries
8-year-old boy, serious injuries
11-year-old girl, serious injuries
All of the injured are from Las Vegas, according to police. Those deaths represent the 49th and 50th traffic-related fatalities in LVMPD jurisdiction in 2024.
The driver, identified as Cynthia Phelps, 64, of Las Vegas, was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries and displayed signs of impairment. Phelps was arrested on DUI-related charges, police said.
The crash took place minutes after a 911 outage was reported across the Las Vegas valley.
