Two persons have reportedly been killed and at least 17 others injured after a shooting at a nightclub in Fort Myers, western Florida.

The incident took place at 1.00 am during a ‘teen night’ with some of the people at the event being as young as 13 years old.

The shooting took place at Club Blu in the early hours of Monday morning, according to Lt. Jim Mulligan of the Lee County Sheriffs Office, according to Yahoo7 News.

He said that two people have been killed, while as many as 17 people have been injured.

Witnesses reported the scene as a “mad house”, claiming at least a dozen shell casings remain at the scene.

Local Juss Olivia said it was lucky she and her friends never made it inside the club.

“Me, my sis, her best friend, my best friend was literally inches from gettin shot,” she said in a social media post.

There was no immediate news on how many more people have been killed or injured, or any indication of why this dastardly attack was mounted.

According to a local television channel in Florida, another witness said that she heard around 30 gunshots from the scene and believes that these came from a number of weapons.
