2 Killed, 16 Wounded in Mass Shooting Outside Florida Nightclub

At least 16 people have been wounded and two killed in a mass shooting outside a Fort Myers nightclub early Monday.

Authorities responded to the parking lot outside Club Blu about 12:30 a.m. and found numerous victims suffering from gunshot wounds, Fort Myers police Capt. Jim Myers confirms to PEOPLE.

Police are still trying to confirm the exact number of victims – some are believed to have taken themselves to the hospital.

The injuries ranged from minor to life threatening and two of the victims later died of their wounds, police say.

Three people have been detained in the investigation.

One other person was wounded in a separate shooting outside a home that police believe is connected to the Club Blue shooting.

Club Blue bills itself as a New Orleans-style restaurant and lounge, according to its Facebook page.

Syreeta Gary told Fox 4 News that her daughter was "dodging bullets" during the shooting, but was not injured. Her daughter's friend was not so lucky and was shot in the leg.
