2 hurt by spooked horse at Denver St. Patrick’s Day parade

DENVER (KDVR) — Two people were injured by a horse at the Denver St. Patrick’s Day parade over the weekend.

The Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee President, Dave Anderson, issued a statement Wednesday confirming that the parade was not without incident.

“At some point before step-off, during the lineup activities, a horse was spooked in the staging area resulting in two injuries,” Anderson said.

Police previously told FOX31 that the incident happened around 9:30 a.m.

Bicycle paramedics from Denver Health attended to them on the scene before both were taken to a local hospital.

“We are grateful for the quick and professional action of the paramedics and the parade marshals on duty,” Anderson said.

Their status was unknown on Wednesday.

Anderson said the parade committee hopes both injured parties recover soon and wants to assure Denverites that the safety of attendees and participants is a top priority.
