2 Florence women accused of leaving elderly man face down on floor for days, deputies say

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Two women are accused of neglecting an elderly man by refusing care for the 73-year-old and allowing him to lay face down on the floor for days, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

Deborah Caulder Jenkins, 69, of Florence and Christy Michele Jenkins, 49, of Florence were arrested and charged Thursday with willful neglect of a vulnerable adult.

On February 1, deputies responded to a home on Arrowhead Road in Florence in reference to an eviction. Upon deputies’ arrival, an elderly man who needed immediate medical attention was found.

Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office said between the dates of January 27 and February 1, the two women allegedly allowed the elderly man to lay face down on the floor for days until he was found by deputies.

The elderly man was transported by Florence County EMS to a local hospital and as a result, arrest warrants were obtained for the two women.

Both are being held at the Florence County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond.
