2 drug stores robbed within 1 week in Reading

Oct. 20—Reading police said two drug stores were robbed recently by a masked man who handed clerks a note at the pharmacy counter while saying he had a gun.

The robberies occurred at Rite Aid, Sixth and Greenwich streets, and Penn Street Pharmacy, Ninth and Penn streets. Police didn't specify the dates of the hold-ups, but said they occurred within the past week.

In both cases, the robber showed a note demanding money and drugs.

Investigators are asking pharmacy operators to make sure their security cameras are operating and to call police immediately if they see a suspicious person hanging around the store.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call Reading police at 610-655-6116.
