2 in custody after crosstown car chase leads to manhunt in west suburbs, police say

WILLOW SPRINGS, Ill. — Two people are in custody following a car chase and subsequent search through the west suburbs on Wednesday.

While police have yet to reveal their identities, officers in Oak Brook say burglary and aggravated fleeing charges will be filed against the pair. Charges come after officers began pursuing the pair following a burglary in Lombard.

According to police, the suspects reportedly used a tan Chrysler minivan with fake plates to escape.

Authorities later confirmed with WGN News that the vehicle traveled southbound on Interstate 88, Interstate 355 and Interstate 55 at speeds up to 100 miles an hour. Before their arrest, the suspect attempted to flee by exiting the vehicle, with one person running into a wooded area near Willow Springs Road.

Video from SkyCam9 captured one person in handcuffs.

No injuries were reported.
