2 Children and 1 Teacher Wounded in Shooting at South Carolina Elementary School: Police

Three people, including two students, were injured in a Wednesday afternoon shooting at Townville Elementary School in Townville, South Carolina, local law enforcement said.

The students have been airlifted to a Greenville, South Carolina, hospital and the teacher was hospitalized locally, according to an Anderson County, South Carolina, sheriff's deputy who spoke to local media.

One suspect, a teenager, is in custody, the deputy said.

The victims' status was not immediately available.

The Anderson County Coroner's Office confirms to PEOPLE they are investigating a death near the school that is related to the shooting. That victim is an adult male and is related to the suspect, Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore says.

Dozens of emergency vehicles arrived at the school shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to news reports.

Panicked parents swarmed the crime scene at the school, hoping to pick up their children.

Police are now reuniting the parents with their uninjured kids. The children have been bussed to Oakdale Baptist Church in Townville, where parents are picking them up.
