2 arsons on Fort Lewis College campus

DURANGO, Colo. (KREX) — An investigation is underway after two arsons happened on the same day on Fort Lewis College campus.

Durango police officers and firefighters responded Sunday morning to a fire in the press box at the Dennison Memorial Field Stadium. Firefighters extinguished the blaze quickly, but extensive damage occurred, according to FLC officials.

Later Sunday night, security cameras captured video of someone setting an FLC Police Department patrol vehicle on fire. The car exploded and was “felt throughout campus,” according to FLC president Tom Stritikus. FLC police posted the surveillance footage to their Instagram.

Events like this are unnerving, I’m unnerved, [and] I’m angry that someone would do this to our amazing campus. I do take solice in the fact that multiple law enforcement organizations are on scene investigating. Even though this investigation might take time, I know they’ll do everything to keep us safe.
