2 arrests after fuel worth $1,000 stolen from Madera gas station

MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two people were arrested after police say they stole approximately $1,000 worth of diesel fuel from a Madera gas station early Monday morning.

According to the Madera Police Department, 38-year-old Cesar Perez and 21-year-old Oscar Machado were discovered at the gas station in the 1300 block of S. Gateway Drive, pumping diesel fuel into large plastic containers that were loaded into the back of a box truck.

Investigators say the two suspects had fraudulently accessed the fuel pumps and secured over $1,000 worth of fuel for free.

Both suspects were arrested on suspicion of various fraud and theft charges and booked into Madera County Jail.
