2 arrested after trying to rob, shooting man leaving Orlando home, police report

Two men were arrested Sunday in the attempted robbery and shooting of a man as he left his home near Lake Ivanhoe, according to the Orlando Police Department.

OPD said around 5:40 a.m. police were called to the home on North Ivanhoe Boulevard regarding a shooting.

The suspects — Kenny C. Mason, 24, and James T. Houston, 25 — spotted a man leaving his home and approached, demanding his belongings and car at gunpoint, according to the agency. When the man attempted to run back into his house he was shot by one of the men.

OPD said the Orlando Fire Department arrived on scene and took the man to a nearby hospital where he is in stable condition.

The suspects were arrested by patrol officers and face multiple charges including burglary, robbery, aggravated battery and attempted murder, police said.

OPD reported that it believed Mason and Houston were in the area attempting multiple vehicle burglaries when they found a firearm inside an unlocked vehicle and used it to shoot the man.

The police investigation is ongoing.
