2 arrested after stolen car hits police vehicle, injures officers

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two people are facing charges for hitting a police vehicle with a car they allegedly stole, the Buffalo Police Department said Monday.

Police said they observed the stolen Jeep Commander on Niagara Street at Forest Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Officers alerted Erie County Sheriff’s Air 1, which monitored it. The Jeep was then found in a parking lot on Breckenridge Avenue and then fled while traveling east on Auchinvole Avenue.

The car finally crashed into a police vehicle at Grant Street, which ended the pursuit.

37-year-old Nilo Pena Delgado and 31-year-old Diana Mix are both facing charges.

Delgado is charged with the following:

  • third degree criminal possession of stolen property

  • second degree reckless endangerment

  • resisting arrest

  • second degree obstruction of governmental administration

  • unauthorized use of a vehicle

  • fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property

  • reckless driving

  • multiple traffic violations

Mix is additionally charged with third degree criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Two of the three officers injured were treated and released from ECMC, while another remains with more serious injuries.
