2 agencies collaborate to arrest man for kidnapping

(KRON) –  The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and the Atherton Police Department collaborated to arrest a man accused of kidnapping.

The Atherton Police Department assisted the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office with a pursuit involving a vehicle that made traffic infractions around 4 p.m. on Saturday. As the Sheriff’s deputies were responding, they were flagged by a woman outside of the North Fair Oaks. According to deputies, the woman informed them that the child’s father had just kidnapped her 4-year-old daughter after a verbal argument.

The suspect was last seen with the child leaving the Budget Inn located in the 2500 block of El Camino Real in Redwood City, according to deputies. According to the investigation, the driver of the vehicle pursuit matched the suspect.

The San Mateo County Public Safety Communications issued a countywide broadcast to all neighboring law enforcement agencies. Atherton officers and Sheriff’s deputies pursued the vehicle on El Camino Real until the suspect stopped back in the parking lot of the Budget Inn, according to deputies.

The child was returned to her month uninjured. The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Pacoima resident Marco Misael Antonio Perezreyes.

Perezreyes was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility. His charges include:

  • Kidnapping

  • Child Endangerment

  • False Imprisonment

  • Threaten crime with intent to terrorize

  • Reckless Evading
