2 accused of murder after body found near Plaster Creek

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people face murder charges in the death of a man whose body was found in Roosevelt Park in December, police say.

Omi Medina-Pagan, 47, and Eliutd Lazaro, 36, face felony murder and armed robbery charges, the Grand Rapids Police Department said on a Monday release. Medina-Pagan is also accused of lying during a violent crime investigation.

The charges stem from the death of 26-year-old Pacifique Uwimana. His body was found Dec. 16 near Plaster Creek at Roosevelt Park along Godfrey Avenue SW. The death was initially dubbed suspicious and the medical examiner ruled it a homicide following an autopsy.

Online Kent County jail records show Medina-Pagan has been there since Dec. 26 and Lazaro since Jan. 30. GRPD said they were in custody on charges linked to the Uwimana case, but did not specific what those charges were.
