19-year-old motorcyclist dies after North Las Vegas crash just before midnight

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 19-year-old man riding a motorcycle died after a collision with a car late Thursday night, according to North Las Vegas police.

Officers responded to the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and Bruce Street just before midnight and found the rider with serious injuries. He was transported to UMC Trauma, where he was pronounced dead.

The rider’s name was not released. Identification, along with cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

A preliminary investigation determined a white Ford Escort was traveling south on Las Vegas Boulevard, turning left onto Bruce Street. A black Honda motorcycle was northbound in a “storage lane,” according to a news release.

Police said the collision occurred when the car turned across the path of the oncoming motorcycle. Speed or impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash, but police said the rider didn’t have a motorcycle license.
