19-year-old arrested, charged with killing Kalamazoo MMA fighter

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Investigators in Kalamazoo have arrested a suspect in the murder of local mixed martial arts fighter Bader Farwana.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety announced that 19-year-old Khymarus Jotiege Pratt, of Kalamazoo, was arrested without incident Friday, just hours after a warrant was signed.

Pratt was arraigned Monday, charged with open murder and felony firearm. He was also denied bond.

Late on March 23, KDPS officers were sent to the scene of a crash on Jackson Street near Portage Avenue. When they arrived, they found Farwana with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It remains unclear what led up to the shooting or what evidence led investigators to arrest Pratt.
